


After their disappointing display on Tuesday night
- the Spartans produced a spirited performance with the being
pulled pegged back deep into added time.
With Andrew Thompson unavailable Peter Snowdon returned to captain
the side, also Chris McCabe replaced Kenny Boyle in the starting
line up.
The home side had created the better openings in the first period.
With Colin Marrison and Leon Jackson testing Adam Bartlett in
the Blyth goal.
But to be honest both sides found to difficult to make a clear
chance in the first half.
With the whole game being played out with heavy rain falling
throughout.
After the break Spartans slowly got a foot hold in the game.
On the hour mark Richard Hodgson floated in a free kick which
McCabe got his head to which Sean Bowles in the home goal held
down to his right.
Then man of the match Robert Dale went on a mazy run down the
left before dribbling the ball past fullback Dominic Roma before
curling his effort over the cross bar.
Spartans took the lead from the penalty spot on 75 minutes. Dale
being fouled by defender Sam Shilton. Referee Dave Plowright to
the spot. Dale's first effort was weakly stroked wi8 the keeper
saving down to his right, however the referee ordered the penalty
kick to be retaken. This time Dale made no mistake.
The home side grabbed their equaliser deep into injury time.
A free kick near the right touch line was floated into the penalty
area by Lee Philpott, for captain Richard Lavery to home.
