Blue Square North
Blyth Spartans 2 Barrow 3
Att: 320
Spartans poor home form continues after they lost to Barrow who
scored twice in the last six minutes to send the Spartans into deeper
trouble at the foot of the Blue Square table.
Barrow took the lead on 6 minutes. Chris Thompson reacting to tap
the ball home after a Jason Walker free-kick hit the Blyth upright.
It took Spartans only eight minutes to draw level, with Robbie
Dale curling in a lovely shot from outside the area. Blyth then
scored the third of the night and, once again, Andy Johnson was
involved in the build-up as his free-kick was headed into the net
by Philip Bell.
Spartans were desperately unlucky not to go 3-1 up as a Peter Snowdon
header was cleared off the line, and soon after heading against
the bar.
With just six minutes left, Spartans pressed the self destruct
button. James Scales found Nicholas Rogan wide on the right and
he went on a powerful run before hitting the ball past Adam Bartlett.
Then after some sloppy defending Rogan nipped in to grab all 3
points in the 88th minute, when he slotted home from just inside
the area.
