26th October Girls Charter Mark
A local girls football club has received a major boost from The Football Association.
Blyth Spartans Junior Girls Club has achieved Charter Standard
status – which reflects overall excellence in the running of the Club.
Alan Wright, the Chairman of the Northumberland Football Association (NFA),
presented the plaque and certificate to Peter Stafford the Director of Girls
Football at a recent ceremony at Croft Park, Blyth.
“The Club can be justly proud of this achievement,” commented Mr.
Wright. “Charter Standard status is important in its own right but it
can also open up doors to possible sources of funding”.
Peter Stafford thanked the NFA and Gordon Young of Blyth Spartans
– the senior club, for all the help he had received in submitting the
application. “We are delighted to receive this recognition and are pleased
to be the first of the Spartans “family of Clubs” to get there.
This is just the start of the girls Club going from strength to strength,”
he said. “ I hope this award will attract more girls to play for the Spartans.
